International Convention Centre Sydney

Every aspect of the Centre complex aspires to be the biggest or best in the southern hemisphere (at least). The Centre itself, which opened in December 2016, is the centre piece of a $3.4 billion revitalisation of Darling Harbour.

The complex includes a hotel, a 32,000 sqm Exhibition Centre and an 8,000 seat Theatre. There is also an external event deck of 5,000 sqm and a ballroom to provide banqueting space for more than 2,000 people. Also within Darling Harbour are new commercial and residential buildings.

ICC itself can host three conventions at the same time, each with break-out rooms, exhibition space and catering areas. Sessions can be held in an 8,000 seat tiered theatre, a 2,500 seat tiered theatre, a 1,000 seat tiered theatre or in the (flat floored) Cockle Bay Room.

To accommodate this complex, several iconic structures were razed, including Philip Cox’s Convention Centre and Sydney Entertainment Centre.
