Pyrmont Community Group

Pyrmont Community Group (PCG) evolved in the early 1990s in reaction to the state government’s program of “urban renewal”. Animated by the charismatic figure of Jean Stuart, the Group’s first successful venture was to create Interim Park, a crusade that won an Australia Day Award for outstanding community service in 1993. Later campaigns have focused on Waterfront Park, Saving Union Square, Jones Bay Wharf, Annandale School Hall, and Pirrama Park.

PCG and Jean are a vital link between the protesters of the 1990s and the community groups that emerged from the 2000s onwards.
