Pyrmont Cares Incorporated (PCI)

Pyrmont Cares Incorporated (PCI) emerged from Pyrmont Progress in 2012 as a voluntary organisation that recycles furniture and whitegoods to those who have recently been housed. Typically these are victims of domestic violence, refugees, discharged from rehab programs or detention, or leaving foster care. Pyrmont Cares supplies all items free except bedding, for which they charge the cost of cleaning and sanitising. Recycling also prevents material going to landfill.

PCI operates through social and case workers to supply about 800 items of whitegoods and furniture a year to some 120 clients. This equates to about 50 fully furnished apartments. Over four years PCI has furnished the equivalent of 160 apartments.
